Discussion with local military families about free Veteran's Day deals.

Ikea: Welcomes all veterans and members of the military to the home furnishings store for a complimentary entrée & beverage in the Restaurant from Wednesday through Sunday, November 15. Proof of veteran or military status must be shown to the IKEA Restaurant cashier at time of payment.

Applebee's: Veterans and Active Duty Military EAT FREE!

Palm Harbor: Curlew Hills Memory Gardens of Palm Harbor is pleased to announce its 22nd Annual Veteran's Day Services.  The event will be held on Veterans Day at 9:30 a.m. The moving observance program will take place at Curlew Hills
Memory Gardens, 1750 Curlew Road, and will be followed by refreshments. The event is free and the public is invited to attend.

State Parks: The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Florida State Parks will offer free day-use entry to all state park visitors.

Manatee County:  A Veterans Day parade will begin Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m. at Rossi Park, between Ninth and 10th Street West, near the Municipal Marina. The parade will travel east down Third Avenue, then north on Riverfront Drive, ending at Veterans Monument Park behind Manatee Memorial Hospital.

 

Following the parade, a Veterans Day ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. There will be a massing of colors by the Manatee County veterans and auxiliary groups, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance and the national anthem. Manatee County Veteran of the Year and Auxiliary Member of the Year awards will be announced. U.S. Congressman Vern Buchanan will be the guest speaker for the ceremony.

 

 

 

 

Bay Pines: Bay Pines VA is hosting a Veterans Day commemoration program on Wednesday, November 11, 2009. This program is free and open to the public. Come out to show your support for America's veterans and those currently serving.

 

The program will take place on the Bay Pines VA Medical Center campus, 10,000 Bay Pines Blvd beginning at 10:00 am, outside between Buildings 2 and 37.

Sarasota County: The Sarasota County's Veterans Benefits Unit, the Sarasota Patriotic Observance Committee and the Venice Area Veterans Council will honor those who served in the nation's armed forces during a Veterans Day parade.

The Sarasota parade will begin at 10 a.m. at Main Street and Osprey Avenue.
