Largo, Florida - Almost 50 dogs arrived at the SPCA Tampa Bay from Clarksdale, MS, this morning.

They were rescued earlier this week when ASPCA dispatched team members to assist in the removal of 400 animals from the City of Clarksdale Animal Shelter.

The animals were living in deplorable living conditions and suffering mostly from neglect. Medical issues such as mange and bite wounds from living in overcrowded cages were also observed.

Multiple agencies from around Florida including the SPCA Tampa Bay, Humane Society of Tampa Bay and Humane Society of Broward County assisted in this rescue effort by accepting dogs into their facilities, providing necessary medical care and placing the dogs up for adoption.

The dogs at the SPCA Tampa Bay will be ready for adoption once they are cleared by the medical staff.

Adoption Hours: Tuesday-Thursday 11 AM to 7 PM; Friday 11 AM to 6 PM; Saturday 11 AM to 5 PM; Sunday Noon to 5 PM; Monday Closed
