
Plant City, Florida - Three people were killed and three others were injured in three related late-night crashes along State Road 39 in Plant City.
By 3:45 a.m. Thursday, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said all lanes had reopened.
Investigators say a Ford Taurus traveling eastbound on Holloway Road ran a stop sign around 9:40 p.m. Wednesday and collided with a Ford F-250 traveling southbound on State Road 39.
The driver and passenger in the Ford Taurus were ejected during the crash and died at the scene. They are identified as Alfonso Hernandez and Salvador Gonzales.
The passenger in the Ford F-250, Kelly Nobles, 37 was also ejected in the crash. She and the driver of the Ford F-250, Alan Nobles, 39, were both taken to Tampa General Hospital.
Kelly Nobles later died at TGH.
According to FHP investigators, Alan Nobles was last listed in critical condition. Both live in Wimauma.
Investigators are looking into whether alcohol was a factor in the crash.
After this crash happened, investigators say a third vehicle hit the Ford Taurus as it sat on State Road 39.
The Ford Explorer kept going, investigators say, and then caused a third crash near McDonald Road, which is about a mile south. Two Plant City women in a Toyota Corolla were critically injured in that crash.
Luisa Gomez, 80, was last listed in serious condition at Lakeland Regional Hospital. At 11:15 a.m., a hospital spokesperson said she was being treated in intensive care.
FHP investigators listed Rosie Gomez, 41, in critical condition immediately after the crash. According to Lakeland Regional Hospital, Rosie Gomez was being treated in the emergency room in the late morning hours.
After the third crash, investigators say the driver of the Ford Explorer ran off.
Florida Highway Patrol investigators are now looking for the driver of the Ford Explorer. The causes of all three crashes are under investigation.
