Peoria, Ill. -- An American Eagle Flight from Denver to Chicago was forced to make an emergency landing in Peoria, Illinois on Wednesday night.
The plane was diverted because of bad weather but then smoke started coming out of the ceiling. Chris Pyle, a passenger on the plane, said it smelled like burning rubber.
Fifty-three passengers were onboard and they had to jump out of the plane once it landed. One passenger reportedly broke her ankle.
According to some passengers, the plane came to a quick stop and the flight attendants told passengers to quickly open the emergency doors.
American rented a charter bus to take those onboard to Chicago.
