Davenport, IA - It's the worst-case scenario at an air show: a crashing plane and smoking wreckage in a farm field.
But that's exactly what happened at the Quad City Air Show in Davenport, Iowa.
An official says the pilot was making a 45-degree bank, and was unable to come out of it
Emergency vehicles raced to the scene, but they couldn't save the pilot.
Emergency officials say the pilot simply did not have enough time to safely eject from the aircraft.
Planes returned to the air at the show about an hour after the crash, with "Taps" played as some aircraft flew over the crowd.
