Tom Brokaw hospitalized in Charlotte, says he mistakenly took Ambien

(USA TODAY) - NBC News veteran Tom Brokaw was taken to a Charlotte, N.C., hospital this morning.

AP reports Brokaw, 72, was feeling "light-headed" on the set of MSNBC's Morning Joe show, which is originating from the DNC this week.

"Out of an abundance of caution," a network spokesperson told AP, Brokaw was taken to a Charlotte-area hospital. NBC said he was being evaluated and "is in good spirits."

At 10 a.m. this morning Brokaw tweeted: "All is well Early AM I mistakenly took a half dose of Ambien and made less sense than usual. Made a better comeback than Giants..."
