Pier Park filled up quick. Crowds gathered early and watched as security dogs swept the event zone, and big bird berated a Romney effigy.
With a debt clock running in the background, a string of local republican leaders took the stage and warmed up the crowd, and just after 630, Romney's motorcade rolled in and the man of the hour stepped off his campaign bus.
As he made his way through the crowd, people cheered and waved signs, took pictures and video and waited for Romney to take the mic, first announcing his wife Ann and then laying into the president's record.
"See that deficit clock? It's at 16 trillion. It'll be 20 trillion in four years if Obama is re-elected. That will be disastrous for our children, and all of us really."
Romney focused on the economy, debt, and jobs, and made sure to drive home his position on Obamacare.
"We should be focused on reducing the cost of healthcare and we have to repeal and replace Obamacare and I'll do it."
20 minutes later, Romney left the stage and pressed the flesh along the barricade. Those in attendance saying the former Governor is destined for the White House.
