'No Swim' Advisory issued for Picnic Island Beach

Tampa, Fla. - As a precaution, Hillsborough County health officials have issued a "No Swim" advisory for Picnic Island Beach.

A health advisory has been issued due to the criteria for enterococci bacteria recommended by the EPA.

This should be considered a potential risk to the bathing public.

Samples taken Monday were above threshold for enterococci bacteria.

The beach will be re-sampled, Monday, October 10th.

Water quality categorizations are based on the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) standard for enterococci is that beaches with a beach action value of 70.5 or higher are given an advisory.
