St. Petersburg, Fl – It’s the the time of year when the sweet smell of ribs wafts through downtown St. Petersburg; Ribfest is November 11 – 13 in Vinoy Park.

The Northeast Exchange Club has thrown this huge rib and music party for 26 years. People will be able to sample ribs and sauces from 13 different national vendors. There’s also a family fun zone for the kids filled with inflatables and other activities.

“Many people come for the music,” says David Hood from the Northeast Exchange Club. “We’re really excited about the lineup this year.”

Bands will play on two different stages. The headliners are: Friday - Huey Lewis & The News, Saturday - The Doobie Brothers, and Sunday - Chris Young.

Proceeds from Ribfest go to support a variety of children’s charities. The Suncoast Center is one of the beneficiaries.

Kerri Pederson says the Ribfest donation will go towards Suncoast’s Parent Aide Program, which provides volunteer mentors to parents. “They go out to the home to provide support, help with parenting, increase their knowledge of child development, help them with self-sufficiency, budgeting, help them get a job—anything really,” explains Pederson. “If you have happier, healthier parents-- then clearly, you have happier, healthier children.”

Over its 26-year history, Ribfest has raised $4.6 million for charity.
