Paul Ryan signs books in Brandon; discusses Obama, ISIS

BRANDON, FLA. -- The 2012 GOP vice presidential nominee made a stop in Brandon on Sunday.

Paul Ryan signed copies of his new book entitled, 'Paul Ryan The Way Forward'. The new book covers such topics as the Republican party, President Obama and his view of the future of our nation.

"This is a book designed to show people what principle conservatism looks like," he said at the Books-A-Million location inside the Brandon Mall.

"What I'm trying to articulate here is a vision of American life that is a society-centered vision where we have more collaboration versus a government-centered vision of American life which is based on coercion."

When asked about how President Obama should be dealing with ISIS, Ryan didn't hold back.

"Quite frankly, I'm not sure the President sees this threat for what it is or understands the moment we are facing right now," he said. "What I would like to hear from our President, my commander and chief, is that he has a strategy to defeat ISIS. To finish them off."

"We know that there are hundreds--if not thousands--of foreign terrorists with foreign passports that will confront us here on our homeland if we don't take this threat seriously right now."

Ryan even touched on the Florida Governors race.

"Rick Scott's a good Governor and I think he deserves re-election," said Ryan, who didn't offer much of an answer when asked about Charlie Crist. "I'm a Rick Scott guy. I'll just leave it at that."

Ryan's hard cover book costs $27. His trip to Brandon is part of a week-long book signing tour that began in Chicago on Wednesday.
