Soon, anyone trying to urinate in Philadelphia’s transit system, might get a surprise.
The Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority will test a clear-coating paint this fall that “pees back,” shooting urine (or any liquid) back onto the offender.
The product, Utra-Ever, has already been applied in San Francisco and Humburg, Germany, Billy Penn reports.
San Francisco Public Works Director Mohammed Nuru told SFGATE the paint has been 95% successful, according to daily monitoring of smell and sight of urine.
It’s unclear where the paint will be applied in the Philadelphia transit first, but it could be tested inside elevators, and/or on walls and walkways.
In Philadelphia, public urination is illegal, carrying a $300 fine.
