Pinellas deputy injured in crash

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. -- A Pinellas County Sheriff's Office deputy suffered non life-threatening injuries in a crash after he ran a red light in Dunedin on Sunday.

The PCSO Major Accident Investigation Team is currently investigating the crash that occurred at the intersection of Main Street and Belcher Road around 11:21 p.m.

Investigators said that Deputy Tyler Green, who has been with the PCSO since September, 2013, was driving a marked 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound on Main Street when he failed to yield to a red traffic light.

Green's vehicle then collided with a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Karen Garland, 31, of Clearwater as Garland was making a left turn with a green arrow.

Garland and two passengers in the Chrysler were not injured in the crash. Green was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
