HOLLYWOOD (CBSLA.com) — Donald Trump’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame was vandalized overnight, authorities said Wednesday.
The star, in the 6800 block of Hollywood Boulevard, was damaged at some point between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
The Republican presidential nominee’s name and star were obliterated, apparently with a sledgehammer or other similar tool.
Trump had been honored with the star in 2007, while producing and starring in “The Apprentice.”
According to Deadline, a man who identified himself as Jamie Otis originally intended to remove the star completely to auction it off and raise funds for the women who have recently accused Trump of sexually assaulting them over the decades. But when the removal effort was unsuccessful, he apparently decided to simply smash it into pieces and leave it in the ground.
