Primary Election: Polls now open

10 News will have live election results tonight on wtsp.com.

All voters in Florida can vote in the primary election today. But, since Florida is a closed primary state, only those registered with a major party (Democrats and Republicans) can vote for candidates of the same party (Democrats and Republicans).

Registered voters with no party affiliation or with minor party affiliation are eligible to vote in Non-Partisan and Universal Primary contests, according to the Polk County Supervisor of Elections.

The larger races in today's primary will choose candidates for the general election on Nov. 4.
