Publix shoppers will soon be able to get their Starbucks fix at the same place they get their subs and rotisserie chickens, according to a report in the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
The Lakeland-based grocery chain is planning to replace an in-house cafe at the store on West Gandy Boulevard in South Tampa with a 286-square-foot Starbucks kiosk, the company confirmed Tuesday.
"We are excited to begin testing Starbucks in our Gandy Shopping Center location," Publix spokesman Brian West wrote in an email. "It will be a great enhancement to the shopping experience for our customers."
West said there are more to come, but the locations are in the works.
This is just the latest higher-scale addition for Publix, which now has large prepared foods sections, and natural and organic displays.
