DAVIE, Florida -- A retired high school principal and father who lived in Carrollwood has been found dead, floating in a South Florida canal with a plastic bag taped around his head.
The body of 76-year-old William Norman was found in Davie. He owned a house in nearby Tamarac that he rented out, and it's believed that one of the suspects had lived at the home.
Two 19-year-olds from Broward County, David Weintraub and Andarly Desir, have been charged with premeditated murder in Williams' death.
Friends and neighbors call Williams a compassionate, generous person who, at 76, was lively and popular.
"He had a big heart. He gave a lot of himself. And sometimes I think people took advantage of that," says Rosemary Bender. "No life should end like that."
