Hello, Joe Bucs Fan...
Okay, the Bucs are rested and ready to go for the last 12 weeks of the season... they hope.
In addition to tweaking the offensive and defensive schemes, let's hope Greg Schiano worked on getting himself acclimated to coaching in the NFL. At times in those first 4 games, he looked like a first year pro head coach.
But here's what they need to do against the struggling Chiefs: on offense, find a way to run the football. Schiano said he wants to use LeGarrette Blount more, balance the load with Doug Martin. It's a very good idea, let's see this happen. A 1-2 punch like Martin and Blount should be ideal... commit to that.
And getting Jeremy Trueblood more involved in run-blocking from the right guard position, is a good idea too. He's an excellent run blocker, so use him.
And Mike Sullivan, take the wraps off of Josh Freeman. His speed, athleticism, and escapeability are what separates him from other quarterbacks. Don't take that away.
On defense, there's a good chance Brady Quinn will start at QB, and he won't beat you. Jamaal Charles can; he's the NFL's leading rusher. So Bucs, stack the box, bring up Mark Barron to stuff the run, challenge the Chiefs to beat you with the pass. They can't do it, and they turn the ball over more than any team in the NFL.
The Bucs have a chance to win this one. Don't waste the opportunity.
I'm Dave Wirth, and I'll see you at the game.
