Tampa, Florida -- A man was shot and killed while attempting to rob another man, according to Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies.
An arrest report states 20-year-old Erika Sanez met 22-year-old Travis Weller about a month ago. Sanez and Weller went on a date around 4:30 a.m. Friday morning. They met somewhere before they came to a vacant home at 8903 Plum Grove Court in Tampa.
Deputies said once Weller entered the backyard, three men attacked Weller.
Weller's mother told 10 News off camera that her son had entered through the fence's opening and he heard leaves crunching in front of him, then a man attacked him from behind.
Deputies said Weller pulled out a gun and shot one of the men, 20-year-old Marlin Walker, in the chest.
"I heard this boom, then three seconds later I heard another boom," said a neighbor across the street who heard the shooting. She asked not to be named.
Deputies said Weller's date, Sanez, drove Walker to the hospital where he later died from his gunshot wound.
The arrest report said Weller called 911 and reported that he shot and killed a man who was robbing him, and two other men had also attacked him. It also said Sanez is a gang member in the TC Boys gang.
"I knew something was going on, but I didn't know what was going on, and I looked out front and saw a grey Nissan Altima drive away with people in," said the neighbor.
Deputies said they are still working to identify the other two men involved in the attempted robbery.
Sanez is being held on a second degree murder charge with a $250,000 bail.
