Storm surge from Hurricane Hermine has forced more than a dozen Pasco County residents from their homes in the Green Key and Hudson Beach areas, according to Pasco County officials.
Fire Rescue and sheriff's deputies are using high-water vehicles to rescue people and get them to an area shelter.
At least 18 people have been evacuated.
Storm surge in the Gulf of Mexico - combined with intermittent bands of heavy rain - is pushing water into low-lying areas of coastal neighborhoods, inundating homes and roads.
Pasco County Emergency Management reminds residents to avoid floodwaters and to never drive through water of any depth.
