Roy Halladay remembered in celebration of life

Friends, families and fans gathered in Clearwater to honor former MLB pitcher Roy Halladay, who was killed last week in a plane crash in the Gulf of Mexico.

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Roy Halladay's lasting legacy is seen across the Tampa Bay area and he is certainly not going to be someone easily forgotten.

Eight-time MLB All-Star and two-time Cy Young award winner Roy Halladay died Tuesday, Nov. 7. after his plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico. He was 40.

A celebration of his life was be held at Spectrum Field in Clearwater Tuesday.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to the Halladay Family Foundation, courtesy of The Giving Back Fund.

The Halladay Family Foundation is closely tied to youth sports and animal welfare. Speakers from the Suncoast Animal League, Florida Burn, Calvary Christian High, and the Pasco Sheriff's Office will be in attendance at the memorial to commemorate Halladay's life.
