ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A witness stated that she saw a mom giving her small child beer at the St. Augustine Amphitheater.
According to the St. Augustine Police Department report, before making contact with Taylor Woodward, 24, the officer observed her handing a plastic cup that appeared to be half full with beer to a child at her feet. The child appeared to be one year of age, according to police.
When the officer made contact with Woodward she was heavily intoxicated and very confrontational. Woodward stated that she was not giving her son beer but that he was picking the cups up off of the floor.
She was deemed unable to take care of her child and was arrested. Upon searching her they found a cigarette stuffed with marijuana mixed in with the normal cigarettes in the pack.
The child was conscious and breathing, but the officer noted that his eyes seemed very glassy. He was taken to Flagler ER and Department of Children and Families was called to take the child into custody because Woodward would not answer where the father of her child was or if she had any family in the area who could come and get him, instead she answered, "Why does it matter?"
A witness spoke with police and said she saw Woodward giving beer to her young son and made security aware who then contacted police.
Woodward was charged with abusing a child without causing great bodily harm and serving alcohol to a person under the legal age.
