St. Pete man accused of killing cousin

A St. Petersburg man is facing a charge of second-degree murder after fatally shooting his cousin Sunday, Pinellas Park police said.

Police said that between 1 and 2 p.m., Sergio Alexandar, 4153 57th St. N., No. 607, went to Sava Rajic's condo in the 5000 block of 75th Avenue. The two got into a verbal argument, and Alexandar shot Rajic, police said.

Following the shooting Sergio left the condo and drove to Treasure Island, then called the Treasure Island Police Department and told them he had shot Rajic, police said.

Treasure Island police made contact with Alexandar and detained him. They found two handguns, one of which is believed to be the murder weapon. Treasure Island police notified Pinellas Park police, who went to Rajic's condo and found his body.

Alexandar was charged with second-degree murder and was booked into the Pinellas County Jail.

According to an arrest affidavit, Alexandar went to the condo to confront Rajic about "poisoning him for the past five years." When he spoke with Treasure Island police, he told them there was no sense checking on Rajic because "I've shot him with a revolver."

Alexandar told police the shooting was accidental, the affidavit said.
