Standoff ends after deputies shoot suspect

HOLIDAY, Fla. -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is investigating after a man was shot and killed who authorities said charged at them with a knife overnight.

Deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the 5200 block of Blue Jay Dr.

Sheriff Chris Nocco says a man barricaded in a bathroom and charged at deputies with a knife. He was tased and then shot. He died from his injuries.

Several neighbors were evacuated for safety precautions.

The identity of the suspect has not been released.

Sheriff Nocco says they received the initial call about the man battering his pregnant girlfriend. She is expected to be okay.

"It's sad for the girlfriend, it's sad for the suspect and it's sad for our deputies," Nocco explained.
