Stocks tumble following Flynn's guilty plea

NEW YORK -- Stocks are down in afternoon trading on Wall Street, but off their lows of the day.

The major indexes tumbled after former national security adviser Michael Flynn pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI and said he would cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation.

Investors feared the developments could spell trouble for the White House and its legislative agenda, including a massive tax overhaul.
