According to the sheriff's office, about two dozen residents of a Palm Harbor neighborhood were watching the alligator walk down a sidewalk when deputies arrived on the scene Monday night. A deputy, a former deputy and a citizen's patrol volunteer worked together to trap the alligator, which was about 8 feet long.
The group used a homemade device, rain jackets, flex cuffs and tape to capture the animal. A trapper then removed the alligator.
