Support for Sawyer comes from all over the world

Brian Festa and his wife, Holly, only got to hold their daughter a few times. Sawyer Festa died on June 1, after just four days, due to under-developed lungs.

"We prepared the room entirely," said Holly. "The crib and everything you would imagine for a little girl."

Holly's sister,Heidi, wanted to do something special for her sister after the tragic loss. The day Sawyer died, Heidi took her son to the beach to play and decided to honor her niece by writing her name in the sand.

"My sister and brother-in-law were robbed of that opportunity to see Sawyer run," she said. "I never imagined that it would spread like this."

Heidi took a picture of Sawyer's name in the sand and posted it to Facebook. She'd hoped that friends from around the country would see it, do the same, and send their pictures to Florida so Heidi could assemble a special tribute book for Holly to keep.

Instead, the picture went all over the world.

"I'm getting pictures of Sawyer's name in China," said Heidi. "Korea, Paris, Ethiopia, Senegal. It just blew up."

With the help of relatives in New York, Heidi started a website called and posted photos from around the globe – each one with Sawyer's name written in a unique way. So far, the site has photos from dozens of countries, some as far away as Japan and Australia.

"It's just an honor that so many people are just bearing the grief with us," said Brian.

"I know that meant a lot to Holly and it meant a lot to me too," said Heidi.
