A man caught in a stolen car at least was honest about it, Pinellas Park police said.
According to an affidavit, a resident in the 7900 block of 46th Way N. called police Wednesday night to report finding a 2002 Ford Focus parked in her front yard. When the officer arrived, he found Cody R. Shannon, 26, passed out behind the wheel.
Shannon couldn't provide the name of the owner of the car, and when the officer checked out the vehicle, he found it was reported stolen from Clearwater, police said.
When the officer handcuffed Shannon, he told the suspect he was being arrested for grand theft auto. Shannon replied, "Of course it's stolen. I would know. I'm the one who took it."
According to jail records, Shannon, who is a transient, was also charged with DUI and having no valid license and is being held on $5,750 bail.
