Talking skeleton spooks would-be thief

A Florida home’s doorbell camera captured the spooking of a would-be thief who tried to carry off a life-size “bride of Dracula” decoration early Sunday morning before realizing it comes to life when disturbed, according to USA TODAY.

“Welcome!” the skeleton decoration says when touched, emitting a maniacal laughter as its eyes glow red.

Sherrie Pelt of Brevard County posted the video to Facebook hours later, which shows a man with a shaved head fumbling with the skeleton decoration, apparently without realizing it moves and speaks when someone touches the bouquet it holds.

The bride awakens and the man bolts, racing from the doorstep, past the sidewalk and across the street.

"I don't even know if his underwear was clean when he got home,” Pelt told news station WKMG. “I mean, he just took off like a bat."

The Brevard County Sheriff's Office asked for tips in locating the failed thief. Pelt said she worried the thief would return to try to steal the decoration again.

"Nothing is sacred anymore," she told WKMG. "It’s like, nobody respects anybody’s property, no matter what."
