Tampa police are looking for a man who grabbed a cash bag from an armored security guard in a convenience store on Tuesday.
About 3:16 p.m., the man entered Wawa, 1760 W. Hillsborough Ave., wearing baggy dark blue clothing with a hoodie, green reflective traffic vest and white boots.
Meanwhile, a representative from Loomis Armored Security was servicing an ATM inside the store. The guard took money from the machine and put it in a bag, which he set next to him. The suspect grabbed the bag and fled the store.
The suspect jumped an 8-foot PVC fence on the south side of the Wawa. Police canine and patrol officers set up a perimeter south of the store. A K9 unit tracked to a house, but a search returned negative results.
Information from a witness two hours after the incident indicated the suspect possibly ran south on Alexander Road. Mendenhall Elementary School is within a block of the Wawa and was briefly locked down for security reasons.
The suspect is a black male with light complexion, 5-foor-8 to 5-foot-10 with a medium build.
