KEY WEST, Fla. (AP) - Endurance Swimmer Penny Palfrey has abandoned her quest to become the first woman to swim unassisted from Cuba to the Florida Keys.

Her support crew says Palfrey was about 26 miles from Key West when she gave up because a strong current made it impossible to finish the more than 100-mile crossing.
