MIAMI (CBS4) - A Miami-bound flight experienced such severe turbulence Tuesday afternoon it sent five passengers, including two crew members, to the hospital.
American Airlines spokesperson Matt Miller said flight 1780 was en route from Aruba to Miami when it began experiencing severe turbulence about a half an hour away from landing. Miller said there was nothing to indicate that the ride would be rough.
There were 185 passengers on board the flight and six crew members.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue spokesperson Giselle Marino confirmed to CBS4 News that two flight attendants were among the five that were transported to the hospital. Their condition is unknown.
Seven people were treated by fire rescue officials on the scene.
