UPDATE: The jury has sided with Bubba the Love Sponge after deliberating for three hours.
Tampa, Florida - The jury in the MJ versus Bubba the Love Sponge defamation trial got the case at 1:15 p.m. after they ate lunch, and now it's a waiting game. People all over the Bay area, the nation and the world are following this case.
10 News received a tweet from across the Atlantic saying, "Even in Scotland, it's go time. I hope sense prevails."
Closing arguments and jury instructions were lengthy Wednesday morning. Court began at 8:30 a.m. sharp, and the proceedings lasted for nearly four hours.
The case boils down to this: were Bubba's statements on his show about rival radio host Todd "MJ" Schnitt protected free speech or defamatory? A jury will decide.
MJ is asking for $18,000 for his security system in his home and any damages that the jury may award.

What's making headlines now are the comments from alternate juror Alana Wilshire, who spoke at length with the media when she was dismissed.
"I think MJ should put on his big girl panties and get over it," she told 10 News. "This is a waste of taxpayer money. I would rule in favor of Bubba. I wouldn't give MJ a dime!"
Alana, along with other jurors, are prohibited from speaking to one another about the case as it's happening. When we asked her if other jurors felt the same she said, "I don't know. We can't talk about it. I've been dying to voice my opinion."
Alana said this case has been a waste of time and pointed out that even she has been called names in the past. "MJ should get over it. When Bubba called MJ's wife a whore, it wasn't meant about Michelle, it was a way to get back at MJ. It was aimed at him."

The judge has now put a gag order on jurors' information when it comes to phone numbers and addresses. The timetable on releasing that information has not been determined.
"There's no expiration on the gag order," said a court clerk.
Attorneys for MJ claim that Bubba was out for revenge and wanted to hurt his rival, while Bubba's attorney say this is nothing more than a "locker room call-out."
"People don't take Bubba's show seriously. It's theater of the mind," said Joe Diaco, Bubba's attorney.
Ultimately, a jury will make the final call.
