Land O' Lakes, Florida -- The Pasco County Sheriff's Office has identified the pilot killed in a plane crash Sunday night near Cypress Creek Preserve as 59-year-old Harold Cameron MacManus.

Harold, a medical doctor from Tennessee, was reportedly in the area visiting family. His sister, Dr. Susan MacManus, is a Political Science Professor at the University of South Florida.

Authorities say they received a call around just before 3 p.m. on Monday that a plane possibly went down in the area of SR 52 and Ehren Cutoff Sunday night from residents in the area who heard a loud noise.

When they found the plane Monday afternoon, parts of it were still on fire, and MacManus' body was found in the wreckage.

The sheriff's office says it is believed the plane took off from Tampa Executive airport just before it crashed.

The National Transportation Safety Board and FAA are investigating.
