Spring Hill, Florida -- UPDATE: After about 12 hours of negotiations, the standoff between SWAT and a man who barricaded himself in a Spring Hill home, off Commercial Way and Berkeley Manor Boulevard, has ended.
Authorities say during the standoff, the mother of the man inside, identified as 39-year-old James Michael Soard, chose to stay with him. After he reportedly took his own life, she was taken from the home by SWAT team members.

The scene has been turned over to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office for further investigation. No word yet on when those evacuated from their homes will be allowed to return.
Hernando County deputies got the call around 2 a.m. that a man had barricaded himself inside. Sources say shots were fired at one point.
All traffic in and out of the neighborhood has been restricted as bands of yellow tape hang across the roadway to make sure everyone is safe.
"We can not take any chances," said Hernando County spokeswoman Denise Maloney. "We got people out."
Right now, it is believed that this barricaded man is acting alone and does not have anyone inside, although Maloney could not confirm this.
Negotiators are on scene trying to talk the man out safely and without incident.
