St. Petersburg, Florida -- St. Pete Police are trying to find the suspect or suspects who stole a detective's unmarked police car along with the weapons stored in the trunk and drove the car into a lake.
Police say it appears sometime during the night, the suspect or suspects broke into the detective's personal vehicle parked outside his south St. Pete home, stole his police car's keys from the center console and then the car. It also appears the culprit(s) unsuccessfully tried to steal his personal vehicle.
The 2007 Chevy Impala was found around 7:30 a.m. by a passerby submerged in the water about 15 feet out on the east shore of Lake Maggiore.
