Citrus Park, Florida -- Two women are dead and another is in stable condition after a shooting inside their home on Manhattan Drive in Citrus Park.
Someone walked into the home just after 11 a.m. and found two women shot, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. By that point, one woman, identified as 56-year-old Fern Giddings, was already dead. The second woman, 52-year-old Nell Mason, died after being rushed to the hospital.
10 News talked with Mason's relatives off-camera. They called her a great woman who would help anyone, and said they were looking forward to celebrating her birthday tomorrow. They also mentioned that she had recently run into some problems.
The person who found Giddings and Mason then ran to a sheriff's district office right across the street, along Gunn Highway, to report the shooting.
Deputies say they found a third woman, 35-year-old Christina Soto, who was running down Gunn Highway, possibly away from a suspect. She had also been shot. She was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital and is currently in stable condition.
During the investigation deputies were able to quickly locate Gary Honish and Jason Burnett, who were identified as the two parties involved in the incident.
A firearm was located, which is believed to be the weapon used during this incident. Jason Burnett was charged with Felony Murder in the 1st Degree with a Firearm (2 counts). Gary Honish was arrested and charged with Accessory After the Fact to Home Invasion Robbery.
According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Gary Honish knew the victims and had done previous narcotic transactions with them. Based on the information that Honish had provided Burnett that the victims would be a good target for a home invasion as they would have narcotics and cash on hand, Burnett had Honish drove to the residence. And after Honish dropped Burnett off, Burnett returned to the vehicle and stated that he had robbed the victims.
All three women lived at the Manhattan residence.
