Spring Hill, FL -- A 39-year-old Spring Hill dad going through a divorce killed his eight-year-old daughter and seven-year-old son over the weekend before taking his own life according to Hernando County Sheriff Al Nienhuis.
Neinhuis says it appears Daniel Castrillon fatally shot his daughter Susana and his son Sebastian while the kids were sleeping at their home on Nodding Shade Drive.

"Daniel did leave a note; it was- I guess if there is a typical note- it was a typical note of a disgruntled soon to be ex-husband so we're relatively confident it was definitely a [double] murder-suicide," the sheriff said Monday morning.

Back on October 12th, officials say Castrillon's wife Luz Jimenez moved out of the couple's home and filed for divorce.
Family friends say Jimenez had been seeing someone else and that Castrillon was having a difficult coping with everything.

"You know the thing about divorce, that's what was making him really crazy," said close friend Francia Guerrero.
Nienhuis said Castrillon had no prior criminal record and that deputies had never been called to the couple's home before this past weekend.
The kids both attended Chocochatti Elementary School where Susana was in 3rd grade and her brother was in 2nd grade.
"It's very, very difficult any time you have innocent children killed. It's even worse when they're killed by somebody who is supposed to be there to take care of them," the sheriff said.
