Brandon, Florida -- Black Friday deals began in many places at 5 a.m., including the Walmart on Causeway Boulevard in Brandon, where a scramble for discounts led to a fight between customers.
10 Connects' Beau Zimmer was there when the fight broke out. He says the Walmart staff had let customers in hours before the incident to prevent a scramble for sale items. The store then started selling its Black Friday deals at 5 a.m.
People had gathered around the particular items they wanted to buy. Customers say the store employee at the $59 TomTom GPS location started selling the devices before 5 a.m., and customers started crowding in, looking for a good position.
In the crowd, a few GPS devices were thrown in the air, and Zimmer saw two customers get into a fight. The fight came to an end before security got involved.
Shopping at the crowded store has returned to normal. It is not known whether any arrests were made, but no one was injured.
In Seminole County, another fight at a Walmart ended with three law enforcement agencies responding. According to WKMG, the Seminole County Sheriff's Office, Lake Mary Police Department, and Sanford Police Department were all called out to the Walmart on 17-92 around 5 a.m.
Officers secured that store before shoppers were told things were safe again.
