A St. Petersburg woman was killed Thursday when the car she was riding in struck a tree, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
About 11:22 a.m., a 2007 Pontiac G6 driven by Ashlynn Harrington, 28, of Pinellas Park was southbound on Interstate 275, exiting onto 28th Street, when she lost control of the vehicle, troopers said.
The car spun and went off the road, hitting a tree.
Harrington and her passenger, Crystal Robinson, 28, were taken to Bayfront Medical Center, where Robinson died of her injuries, troopers said. Harrington remains at the hospital in serious condition.
