Two dead in head-on collision on Gunn Highway in Odessa

An 8-year-old girl is in critical condition after the accident.

ODESSA, Fla. -- Two people are dead after a head-on collision in Odessa.

The accident happened on Gunn Highway near the Keystone Recreation Center. 

According to deputies, about 12:46 p.m. Saturday, Terry Lee Bronschidle, 70, of Tampa was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Traverse southbound on Gunn Highway north of Wayne Road.

Meanwhile, Spencer Theodore Shertt-Barnes, 25, of Odessa was northbound on Gunn in a 2009 Ford Ranger. Callie Fowler, 8, was in the passenger seat.

Deputies say that for unknown reasons, the Chevrolet entered the path of the Ford, and the vehicles collided head-on.

Hillsborough County Fire Rescue personnel pronounced both drivers dead at the scene.

The 8-year-old Ford passenger was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

No charges are pending, deputies said. The investigation is continuing.
