Two fallen soldiers return home to Tampa

Tampa, Florida --- Two fallen soldiers arrived at Tampa International Airport Friday evening, returning home for the final time. They both lost their lives at the recent shooting at Fort Hood.

The fiancée of one of the soldiers, Kristen Haley, fell into the arms of her father at TIA last night. She flew into Tampa just eight days after her fiancé, Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Ferguson was killed in the Fort Hood shootings.

A soldier herself, Army Specialist Haley spoke exclusively to 10 News about the man who was to be her husband.

"My unit is struggling a little bit because he was such a big part of our unit. Because he was just always that guy," she said.

Kristen arrived in Tampa as part of a proud troop of American soldiers... soldiers who are mourning the loss of two of their own.

Kristen and Danny were to be married soon. Now she has the memories they shared and recalls everyone's respect for the hero who used his body to block the doors of a Ft. Hood conference room, keeping the gunman out.

Both Sgt. 1st Class Daniel Ferguson and Staff Sgt. Carlos Lazaney-Rodriguez arrived at Tampa International Airport Friday evening.

Ferguson's funeral is Saturday in Lakeland.
