New festival celebrates St. Pete's culture

Et Cultura is a brand new festival arriving to St. Petersburg on November 16. The festival will encompass film, music, technology and food.

St. Petersburg, Fla. – Get ready for another festival—Et Cultura is coming to St. Petersburg November 16 – 20. Organizers say this festival will truly have something for everybody. Et Cultura celebrates music, art, film, and makers. Planning for the inaugural event began a year ago.

“We’re shutting down four city blocks. We’re having two movie theaters for our film festival branch, a main stage for all of our music, and over 150 vendors for our Makers Market,” explains Joel Malizia, one of the festival’s founders.

The festival will also feature interactive discussions. “We will have panels and sessions where people can talk about the different things that are affecting St. Pete—art, music, and technology and how they sort of work together,” said Et Cultura’s Lea Umberger.

Organizers plan to release more details about the films and musical performers at a party on Friday, September 16th at 7:15 at Station House. A free concert by Funny Bunny follows the lineup announcement.

Tickets sales also start on Friday. $25 will get you into five days of events.

Organizers hope this festival will grow and eventually attract people from around the country. “We have plans for next year, and the year after that, and hopefully five to ten years to come,” said Umberger.
