TAMPA, Fla. - An off-duty Orange County deputy on a jet ski rescued a man who was unconscious and floating in the water.

Alex Floyd was riding his jet ski with his father near Egmont Key on Dec. 3 when he came across the man, who was face-down, unconscious and bleeding.

The man was riding a personal watercraft when he was tossed into the water after hitting a wave, Floyd said.

Floyd helped get the man ashore, who was then taken by ambulance to a hospital.

The man is doing okay, Floyd said.
