Gold teeth - like these - were stolen during a robbery
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Springfield police have taken a bite out of crime by arresting a man who allegedly stole another man's gold teeth.
Police got a call from the alleged victim just after 7 p.m. on Thursday. He said while he was outside a city liquor store another man had hit him across the face with a gun and demanded he hand over his ornamental gold teeth, watch and a gold chain.
The suspect fled the area.
Relying on a description provided by the alleged victim, police arrested 46-year-old Robert Ester of Worcester about 45 minutes later and charged him with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
He did not have a weapon and the teeth were not recovered. It was not clear if Ester had an attorney.
