EL PASO COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A mother is facing charges after allegedly abandoning her toddler in an open space off Interstate 25.
Nyesha Hall-Gonzalez, 28, was taken into custody in El Paso County. She could face attempted murder charges. Police say she was uncooperative in the search for her missing child.
A tracking dog picked up the little boy's scent and found him alive covered with scrub oak and tumbleweeds.
"It appears she intentionally laid him down there on a blanket and then covered him back up," Joe Breister with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office said.
Police say a strange phone call tipped them off that the boy was missing. It's not clear why she abandoned her son.
