Stanton, CA - A pair of accused puppy snatchers in Southern California are off the hook, after paying for their crime.
Surveillance video shows the man and woman taking a Chow from a pet store in Stanton last week. Police describe how they pulled off the theft.
"The male suspect pretends to pick out a dog as a distraction. The store employee opens up the kennel, takes the dogs into a playroom, which is called the love room, it's a room where they play with the dogs to see if they like them. As they're doing that the female suspect opens up the kennel, removes a puppy who is a chow and then leaves the store."
After the surveillance video aired on T-V, a woman offered a shopper $20 to take an apology note and $600 to the pet store as payment for the stolen puppy. The store owner has decided to accept the apology and not press charges.
