HOUSTON (CBS Houston) - Among the bevy of uses that canned goods have in helping out the homeless population, add "pelting an elderly woman who has offered a home" to the list.

Kelly Marie Crosby was arrested for allegedly throwing canned goods at a 78-year-old woman, the same elderly woman who was giving shelter to Crosby, who is homeless. The Houston Chronicle reports that Crosby, 53, has been staying with an unidentified 78-year-old woman at her northwest Harris County home on occasion.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Crosby "started an argument with the (victim) and during the argument, the suspect started throwing canned goods at her." Police indicated that Crosby hit the woman on the arm and wrist. The Chronicle reports that the elderly woman did not require a visit to the hospital for her injuries.

Crosby has been charged with injury to an elderly individual and is currently in Harris County Jail. Since 1990, Crosby has been convicted on several charges, including assault on a family member and possession of a controlled substance.
