STOCKTON, Calif. (KXTV) - Police in California continue to investigate allegations that a 5-month-old girl was given a baby bottle with liquor inside.
The mother, 26-year-old Iesha Hill, reportedly left the girl with a babysitter Friday night. While she was away, her babysitter, 44-year-old Tressie Piggee, said she made the baby a bottle with what she thought was water from a water bottle.
"I was making formula at 2 am and didn't know that the plastic bottle next to the baby's formula was filled with Bacardi and not water."
Piggee said neither she nor Hill could understand why the baby wouldn't take the bottle several times that evening... until her head started to wobble around 10 the next morning.
"That's when Iesha opened the bottle to see if there was something wrong with the formula, and smelled alcohol."
They took the baby to a hospital in Stockton, where she was then transported to UC Davis Hospital for treatment. The medical staff called the police department.
Hill was taken into custody at the hospital and will be charged with child abuse and endangering the health of a child.
