SHINGLETOWN, Calif. (AP) -- A Northern California man is facing trial on charges that he shot his son in a dispute over karaoke singing.
A Shasta County judge on Tuesday ordered 70-year-old William Henry Oller Sr. to stand trial on attempted murder and assault charges in the January shooting.
He is accused of opening fire at his 50-year-old son, William Carr Oller Jr., because he didn't like the younger Oller's country music karaoke singing. The shooting occurred at the son's Shingletown home.
The Record Searchlight of Redding reports that Oller Jr. suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and other injuries.
Aaron Williams, the attorney for the elder Oller, says there is no evidence to show the shooting was intentional, and his client may have acted in self-defense when he was approached by his son.
