JACKSONVILLE, Florida (WTLV) -- In an attempt at humor, some people say a local restaurant came off as racist.

But Lola's Burrito Joint in Riverside says it was never their intention to offend people with their giant burrito's moniker.

"Latin beef, cheese, guacamole, tomatoes, salsa, rice, beans, refried beans, and the kitchen sink if we could," said co-owner Carlos Rameriz of the ingredients in the "Wet Willie."

It's a big burrito -- that caused some big controversy at the new restaurant in Riverside.

Initially named the "Wetback Willie" when the restaurant opened two months ago, there was an immediate backlash on Facebook and in online comments.

"It's kind of unique. I'm surprised, but understandably," said co-owner Robert Kapuschanski.

He says the burrito got its name from their friend and employee.

"He said, 'Name it the Wetback Willie after me,' and some people took offense," he said.

But when the comments rolled in, he said there was no question they would change the name.

"Somebody said something, we immediately answered, we immediately changed, and it's the right thing to do as a human being," he said.  

It's now just Wet Willie, and they sell 15-20 of them a day.

But online commenters have questioned some other menu items like "Shrimp no Papers," and "The Dirty Sanchez."

"It's a crab burrito, and crabs usually eat from the bottom of the sea," said Ramirez.

Ramirez says they items were named without malice, and hopes customers will judge the food and not its label.

"The business has been wonderful and we are extremely grateful to everyone in the community," he said.
